When planning your trip, be sure to consider the following before deciding on a destination: Species - what are your priorities? Some locations offer many species, but their size or abundance may be limited. Are you seeking lots of fish or are you willing to settle for fewer, but larger, fish? Service - if you’re going to a lodge, what level of service do you want? Be honest about your abilities and interest in operating a boat, reading unfamiliar waters, understanding best tackle options and cooking/cleaning for yourself. Every angler should consider a fly-in adventure to one of Canada’s northern lakes. Budget - what we can afford influences many of our decisions, and fly-in trips are no different. If your dream trip exceeds your available funds, consider saving for a few years. The anticipation alone will make it all worthwhile. Alternatively, don’t let a lack of funds keep you off the water. Many fly-in fishing adventures are extremely affordably; just do a little research. References - if you’re considering a trip at a lodge or with a guide, be sure to check references. Unfortunately, as in all industries, some are better and more reliable than others.
